Sculpt
Sculpt
Light shaped by touch, a meditative fusion of physical and digital
Sculpt explores alternative, intuitive ways of interacting with digital systems by turning sand itself into the interface. Rather than relying on buttons, screens or conventional controls, participants shape the installation directly with their hands. Depth sensors continuously track the contours of the sand surface, allowing a projection system to render dynamic topographical patterns that respond in real time.
The interaction encourages a slower, more analogue form of creativity. With no obvious interface or instructions, participants are free to explore the material in their own way, discovering how the digital layer responds to their gestures. By allowing physical manipulation to directly shape a digital environment, Sculpt quietly dissolves the boundary between the tangible and the virtual.
Applications & Versatility
A calming, meditative experience for wellness centers, sensory rooms, or museum “quiet zones.” It provides a tactile way to visualize geography, urban planning, or environmental changes, making it a valuable tool for educational storytelling that requires a slower, more analogue pace.
